Car Security Tips

Quite allot of modern cars come with alarms or immobilisers fitted as standard, even with these fitted adding a stop lock to the steering wheel will add even more problems to the would be car thief.

If you car does have a good alarm system fitted always keep the stickers that they put on your window in place so the car thief can see that its the real thing rather than just a flashing light.

Always try to park your car in a well lit area and if possible somewhere near where people walk or drive by, also never leave anything in the car e.g. bags and coats. You may know that the bag contains nothing of worth but the thief who smashes your window to steal it doesn't know that, and new car windows are not cheap. The best thing to do is put the bags and coats in the boot before you park up, then if someone is watching a car park, they never see you hiding the coat or bag.

Keys: As technology progresses car security is getting better featuring keys with electronic chips in them (so the car wont start without the car key). If your car does have chipped keys you need to make sure that the keys are safe at all times. Car thieves have been known to hook keys out of the key hole of peoples front doors through letter boxes, and also kick in front doors and pick the car keys off the table and disappear with cars. The best thing to do is to take the keys upstairs to bed with you, so you know where they are at all times.
