This 2002 G-500 (Gelaendewagen) by Mercedes is like driving a plushed out Tank. I just bought it with 30,000 miles on it for 49k US dollars which is the only way to buy one of these in my opinion since the sticker price new is ridiculous!!! around 80k.

Never have I felt a more solid ride than this and the 4 wheel drive capability is highly rated. 3 locking differentials (if needed) :) Navigation, amazing 6-CD stereo, and that odd voice command thing where you can have the car find you a restaurant by barking the name at the center console lol. Not really a feature I need but oh well that's Mercedes I guess. Some think the shape to be outdated or simply hideous but I find it beautiful, similar to older land rovers and military type vehicles in general. I've always wanted a Unimog so this is the next best thing.

Gas mileage isn't the greatest, about 12 in the city and around 18 on the highway. The engine is the same as the Mercedes S-500 sedan powerplant (5.0 liter 298-302 hp) giving this 6000 lb. vehicle adequate power. Most of these in Europe are diesel, it wasn't until 2002 that Mercedes-Benz USA started making these available here in the states with a gas engine. I love it I really Love it!!!
